Original unissued condition (probably Bannerman old stock). 1872 insignia for the forage cap.  This insignia in 1872 was noticeably smaller than the previous issue. Made of stamped brass with the attaching wires in place. also issued for the “Chasseur pattern” hats as well. 2 1/8 inches wide.
