U.S. ARMY GAS MASK M3, 1940-41 DIAPHRAGM TYPE WITH BAG:  This rather early type diaphragm M3 mask is dated 1941 and has the canister and anti-fog canister in the bag.  this early type has the steel diaphragm cover and a flapper valve exposed on the bottom.  This would soon be changed in 1942.  This early model is quite hard to find in this remarkable condition.  bag has stenciled captains name and number inside. USMC M1 GARAND CLEANING RODS KIT COMPLETE AND SCARCE:  I've never ran into this model of rods or handle before.  the case is marked "rifle cleaning rods, Marine corps contract (MSX?)49213-Universal engineering Co. SCARCE USMC/NAVY ISSUE PROTECTIVE INDIVIDUAL GAS COVER:  This gas spray protective cover is similar to the army issue but is twice as thick in the package.  Well navy/USMC contract code of NXSS on the front.  in Excellent condition and a quite scarce piece of USMC/Navy equipment to find.  These were often used by the Marines as a light poncho in wet weather.
