This grouping is coming from the Merle Olmsted collection (Author of the 357th unit history). He collected these from the vets and all 4 are pictured in the book. Letters accompany 2 of the patches.  1st group: Richard "Rip" Potter's 357th group (leather) and his 362nd FS patch (carpet loom style) and his 8th AF patch(bullion). Comes with all research, patch is ink named on reverse from "Rip" the pilot of the "Marymae". He is well mentioned and photoed in the book that comes with this group. 2nd group: Bill Norton's (mechanic in 364th FS) Jacket patch (painted leather removed from jacket)found by him, and his shoulder patches (British made. 8th in bullion) comes with letter explaining the patch and looking forward to the printing of the unit history by Olmsted. 3rd grouping: James Loersch's Jacket patch (363rd embroidered on wool) and letter of him buying it in Neubiberg, Germany in 1945 along with his 2 shoulder patches (mothed).  he was the Armorer of B-6-B (363rd call sign for B group). Also a paper from the base. These were all given (or sold) to Mr. Olmsted for the making of his unit history"the Oxford Boys" This is probrably the most ID'd grouping in existance of this famous Fighter group that included "Bud" Anderson, and Yeager, and more!! RARE ORIGINAL GERMAN MADE U.S. 3RD DIVISION WWII HELMET DECALS: I can't stress how rare a set of these original helmet decals are for ANY division. BUT here are a pair of original decals for the WWII M! helmet. Manufactured by the Carl Schimpf firm in Nurnberg (whom made the German helmet decals also). Water applied type decals and were found between a stack of papers in a footlocker grouping. They are near mint, little yellowed Guaranteed, Original, with no cracking, green bordered.  I will not guarantee them to work, but probably would (but why fake a helmet). but great for any helmet collector to have for reference. photo looks "zig zag" in lines but none present!!!

M2A1 ANTI-PERSONNEL WWII MINE WITHOUT THE FUSE:  This is a M2A1 Anti-personnel mine widely used in WWII.  This is the 2nd variation of the mines used in the series produced.  Number "5" is stamped on the bottom, and a "FF" in a triangle on the threaded pipe for the fuse which is not included but shown to demonstrate the looks. Restored over 45 years ago so it looks great.
